Screen Design #367
This listing is for a wonderful mesh silk screen in the design of LACE.
These screens can be used for polymer clay design, air dry clay, or cake fondant decorating. These silkscreens are for earring makers or cake decorators.
*Earring makers can use it on polymer clay, clay, or air dry clay. Crafters can only use water-based acrylic paints or water-based pigments under/over the cover coat for ceramic dough. Use the paint with a nice handled squeegee, which I also sell for this product. You also can purchase the screen with a squeegee as a combo, or get the squeegee by itself. If you purchase 3 or more silk screens, you get the handled squeegee for FREE!!!
*Cake decorators can use this screen with eatable spray paint. You can use piping gel, royal icing, or airbrush colors. Make sure to use water-based colors. Avoid alcohol-based paints.
Make sure to read the directions and care for the screens before starting any project. This will help the longevity of your screens.
The silkscreen’s measurements are 11X11 cms/4.25X4.25 inches. The printed design measurements are 10X10 cm/4X4 inches.
100% original handmade silk screens are made out of the best quality European and US food contact-safe materials.
We use the finest silk mesh and this allows you to transfer the most intricate designs on your edible/non-edible items.
These are widely used for polymer clay art, cookie, and cake decorating, and ceramic screen printing, etc.
PAKU Silkscreens are a lifetime product as long as they are well cared for. However, color change in silk is considered normal after hundreds of applications of the same design. But this does not affect the print, it is just a visual change.
TIPS ON CARE OF YOUR SILKS:
*Use a silicone spatula or a squeegee (or a flexible credit card) to spread the paint.
Immediately immerse your silk in a cup of water and gently brush it with your fingertips to release the excess paint.
Make sure to flat wash the silk screen under running water (do not fold or crease) OR simply wash with a soapy sponge on a flat surface.
Wipe out the excess water with a paper towel and let it dry.
*Hard silicone spatulas or squeegees with a handle work better as you can better control the scraping off the excess paint.
*Always scrape the excess paint in the same direction and hold your spatula at 45 45-degree angle.
*Both sides of the silk screen can be used, but you may get a clearer print when you stick the matte side on the clay (shiny side upwards).
*Only use water-based acrylic paints. Still though from brand to brand, color to color, and even from winter to summer the viscosity of the acrylic paints differs. You may need to play around with some different brands and colors just to figure out which one works the best for you.
*We use the finest mesh for our beautifully detailed designs, so your paint should not be too thick or too runny.
*Always be careful and work rapidly to avoid the paint set, as it may end up clogging the pores of your silk screen.
*Keep the paint lids closed when you are not working with them, as the water inside the tube could easily evaporate.
